About Kelli
Hi, I'm Kelli and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and owner of Renewal Counseling in Bethesda, Maryland.
I believe that each of us desires to live a healthy life and be in relationships with others. The reality is developing healthy relationships is hard, and can sometimes feel unattainable. My hope is together through the counseling experience we can work towards goals that bring self-awareness, change, healing, and renewal.
My Approach to Counseling
I come to the counseling space with a Client-Centered approach using mindfulness, Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFTC), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and interventions from multiple evidence-based modalities. I specialize in working with couples who are experiencing challenges in their relationship keeping them stuck in negative cycles.I am a Certified Prepare and Enrich Facilitator and use my Gottman Level 1 training, Sex Therapy training, along with my training in EFTC to shape my approach in couples therapy and with Individual clients.
Education & Experience
In 2004, I received my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I went on to work with medically fragile infants and children as a Social Worker at a long-term care facility. ​After moving to the DC Metro area in 2009, I worked with a home health company as the Client Services Manager helping seniors age in place with independence and dignity while navigating challenges within the family system.​After taking time away from work to be a stay-at-home mom, I went back to school and received my master’s in Clinical Mental Health from Messiah University. While in graduate school I learned a variety of evidence-based counseling practices that inform my work today. My work in an outpatient mental health clinic as well as a private practice in Maryland has provided years of experience and clinical expertise that I bring into each session. In January 2025, I opened Renewal Counseling to pursue my passion and values of working with couples and adults in Montgomery County, Maryland. ​
